Dean’s Student Advisory Board
The Dean’s Student Advisory Board at the University of Mary Washington’s College of Business is a collaborative leadership group dedicated to elevating the student voice and strengthening the connection between students and college leadership. Guided by Dean Filiz Tabak, the Board plays an essential role in informing the direction of the College by offering thoughtful perspectives on academic programs, student engagement, professional development opportunities, and the overall student experience within the College of Business.
Representing a wide range of majors and academic interests, Board members serve as ambassadors for their peers, gathering insights from the broader student community and bringing those viewpoints directly to the Dean. This ongoing dialogue helps ensure that College initiatives, policies, and events remain relevant, equitable, and aligned with the needs of current and future students. Members also support the development and promotion of new opportunities, including career-focused programming, experiential learning activities, employer engagement efforts, and signature College of Business events.
Participation on the Board provides students with a valuable leadership experience that enhances communication, problem-solving, and professional collaboration skills. Students gain firsthand exposure to the administrative and strategic operations of the College, while contributing to meaningful change and continuous improvement.
Membership is open to undergraduate and graduate students from any discipline within the College of Business who are committed to representing their peers and contributing positively to the College’s mission. Students interested in making an impact, sharing ideas, and working closely with College leadership are strongly encouraged to become involved.
