College of Business Holds Third Annual Case Competition

First Place Team: The Fabulous 4

On Friday, April 26th, six teams of MGMT 490 students participated in the College of Business’ Third Annual Case Competition, presented by Beautiful Home Services.  Of the thirty teams that initially entered the competition, six teams were selected by COB faculty as finalists, and presented their case proposals live for a panel of five judges.  This year’s judges included COB alumni Linda Blakemore, Dan Clendenin, Melinda May, Andrew Blate, and Mr. Blate’s Beautiful Home Services co-founder Craig Schneibolk.

The Fabulous 4 (left to right: Samantha White, Chenoa Forrester, Maria Herrera, and Sophia Somsen) came in first for their proposal, earning the $4500 grand prize.  MJM Consulting (Monica Davidson, Jacob Dubnowski, and Micah Mattozzi) came in second place and The Money Funnel (Kait Higgins, Jolie Richards, Ripken Smith, Zavier Webb, and Riley West) came in third, earning the teams $2500 and $1000, respectively.  Judge Andrew Blate commented that this year’s teams had some of the fiercest competition, and that it was a difficult decision to select the winners since all six teams did so well.

The COB is excited to see where the knowledge and skills students learned through developing their proposals will take them, and is looking forward to next year’s competition, which will be held at the end of spring semester.
