The annual “Meet the Accounting Firms” event was held Wednesday, September 19 in Woodard Hall’s Red Room. Co-hosted by the College of Business and Career for Career and Professional Development, the yearly event aims to bring together potential employers and current accounting students. Twelve firms and organizations from the Fredericksburg, Richmond and DC areas were in attendance and met with students individually to offer information on internships and employment.
Participating firms included: Auditor of Public Accounts – Commonwealth of Virginia, Central Intelligence Agency, Deloitte, Department of Defense, Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond, Foltz and Associates, Kositzka Wicks & Company, KPMG, PB Mares, Robinson Farmer Cox, Tate & Tryon and the Virginia Corporation Commission.
Students became acquainted not only with the firms, but with over a dozen Mary Wash alumni who returned to represent their companies. Recruiters from KMPG spent the day on campus speaking in several accounting classes. The firm plans to return and interview students in coming weeks.
Almost fifty College of Business students attended the “Meet the Accounting Firms” event. Interim Dean Ken Machande was joined by Professors Sayan Sarkar, David Henderson, Dave Covington, and Andrea Cordray from the College of Business. Rose Maddox from the Center for Career for Professional Development was also in attendance.
