Employment

The College of Business occasionally receives job vacancy notices from employers specifically seeking business students.  These notices can be accessed by clicking on the above “Employment” link.  In addition, students and alumni looking for employment are encouraged to check out the Career Services website and the state of the art Handshake database.

Internship Program

Mentorship Program

The Mentorship program began in September 2012 to provide students with an opportunity to network and gain advice on navigating the job search process. For more information about this amazing opportunity or to express an interest in taking part in this program, please contact cob@umw.edu.

Speed Networking

The Fredericksburg Regional Alliance and the College of Business co-host one Speed Networking event per semester. Speed Networking events are an excellent opportunity for students to connect with the local business community. Students are encouraged to bring their resume and are able to connect with every business professional at the table during the networking event. Past business participants have included leaders from the Free-Lance Star, Mary Washington Healthcare, GEICO, PermaTreat Pest Control, small business owners and more.

The Tara Corrigall Internship Grant

The Tara Corrigall, UMW ’82, past BOV member, endowed this grant with the following terms:  Recipients shall be business, economics, or political science majors participating in a UMW-approved internship experience for which the student is not paid or receives nominal pay by the sponsoring internship employer or organizations.

For spring 2024, the grant is $1560 which can be distributed to one or more qualified students. Additional information and a link to other Internship Grants can be found here
